MobiHealthNews is reporting that Jeff Tangney, co-founder of Epocrates, has launched Doximity, a private network for doctors to find each other's public phone and fax numbers, share private contact info, locate 24 hour pharmacies, and exchange HIPAA-compliant text messages. The service can be used online via a browser or through a dedicated iPhone app.
The use of smart phones by American doctors is skyrocketing and hospitals have seriously begun taking advantage of the possibilities these devices bring. A novel service called Voalté has now been rolled out in five hospitals across the country to help clinicians stay connected with each other and speed up institutional response to alarms. The messaging system, which acts like a unified service for voicemail, alarms, and text messages, is now available on the iPhone, iPad, and Blackberry devices.
