| Danville Polyclinic Picks EHR for 40 Providers Posted: 20 Apr 2010 07:53 AM PDT Danville Polyclinic, Ltd. , the largest comprehensive multi-specialty clinic in Danville, Ill., has chosen Sage Intergy EHR (Tampa, Fla.) for its electronic documentation needs. With 40 providers and more than 15 specialties and services, many patients visit multiple departments and physicians for their healthcare needs, and the company says Sage Intergy HER enables clinic staff to access the entire medical record online, in real time from multiple locations. Its HL7 interface also allows Danville Polyclinic to share with or receive information from hospitals or other medical practices, the company adds. Danville Polyclinic, Ltd. has been a healthcare provider in Danville, Ill., since 1947. Danville Polyclinic offers primary care, specialty care, and an array of support services. Services include a licensed laboratory, radiology department, home health agency, and an urgent care department. The company says implementation of Sage Intergy EHR throughout the practice will be complete in May 2010. |

The latest Centricity Perinatal equipped hospitals and health systems include: Brookwood Medical Center (Ala.) Carolinas Healthcare System (N.C.) Fairview Health Services (Minn.) Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center (Wis.) Midwest Regional (Okla.) Wellstar (Ga.) According to the company, Centricity Perinatal supports documentation of mothers and infants throughout the perinatal continuum of care. |
| Obama Nominates Berwick as CMS Administrator Posted: 20 Apr 2010 05:29 AM PDT On Monday, President Obama nominated Donald M. Berwick, M.D., president and CEO of the Cambridge, Mass.-based Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), to be administrator of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In announcing the nomination, the President said in a statement, “Dr. Berwick has dedicated his career to improving outcomes for patients and providing better care at lower cost. That’s one of the core missions facing our next CMS administrator, and I’m confident that Don will be an outstanding leader for the agency and the millions of Americans it serves.” In addition to his IHI position, Berwick is also currently a clinical professor of pediatrics and health care policy at the Harvard Medical School, and a professor of health policy and management at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is also a pediatrician, adjunct staff in the Department of Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, and a consultant in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital. A graduate of Harvard College, Berwick holds a master in public policy degree from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He received his medical degree from the Harvard Medical School.
