NYU Langone MC to Install Kiosks

NYU Langone Medical Center (New York) is implementing the My Patient Passport Express kiosk from Mequon, Wis.-based D2 Sales in an effort to improve the patient check-in process, the company says.   According to D2 Sales, the kiosk enables patients to check-in, make future appointments, and update medical history using a HIPAA-compliant privacy touch screen monitor. Patients can may payments using a credit card, and sign documents using the integrated electronic signature pad, it says.   NYU Langone Medical Center consists of the NYU School of Medicine and three hospitals: Tisch Hospital, a 705-bed acute-care general hospital, Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, and NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. It also includes the NYU Cancer Institute, the NYU Child Study Center, and the Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.  

Ga. Hospital Association Looking to Quality for Incentives

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA, Marietta) has selected Falls Church, Va.-based CSC as a preferred provider to help member hospitals comply with the federal government stimulus package. According to CSC, as part of the project, it conducted an educational workshop for GHA members on the healthcare provisions in the stimulus package and their impact on hospitals. CSC says it is working with members to calculate potential Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments and will soon assess how Georgia hospitals can meet these regulatory requirements.

HealthPartners to Integrate PACS, EHR

Merge Healthcare (Milwaukee) and HealthPartners , a non-profit health organization based in Minneapolis, are teaming up to integrate Merge’s radiology PACS with Verona, Wis.-based Epic ’s EHR solution. According to Merge, the new platform is being rolled out at Regions Hospital , a 427-bed facility in St. Paul, Minn., as well as in 18 outpatient clinics and medical offices that are also part of HealthPartners. According to the company, HealthPartners completed the transition to filmless in 18 outpatient settings, and is planning to bring the integrated EHR and PACS into their critical access hospitals in smaller cities in Western Wisconsin. Founded in 1957, the HealthPartners family of healthcare companies serves 1.25 million medical and dental health plan members nationwide. .
