St. Barnabas Signs for RCM

Saint Barnabas Health Care System (SBHCS, West Orange, N.J.) signed a long-term agreement with Atlanta-based MedAssets to provide revenue cycle process reengineering services. According to the company, this strategic partnership is focused on achieving improved financial metrics and best-practice revenue cycle operating processes across the SBHCS enterprise. The scope of services to enhance revenue capture and improve payment accuracy will include, but not be limited to: accounts receivable billing and collection services; denial management and retrospective recovery services; and targeted consulting services to achieve best practice operations across the entire revenue cycle, touts the company. SBHCS is a non-profit healthcare delivery system comprised of six acute care and two children’s hospitals, outpatient care centers, nursing and rehabilitation centers, an assisted living facility, a state-wide behavioral health network and comprehensive home care and hospice programs.

Geisinger to Launch eICU

Geisinger Health System (Danville, Pa.) has entered an agreement with Netherlands-based   Royal Philips Electronics to launch an eICU program. According to the company, the eICU program combines early warning alerts and remote monitoring technology to connect off-site critical care specialists with intensive care unit (ICU) patients and their bedside care teams. Geisinger Health System is one of the nation’s largest integrated health services organizations. Serving more than two million residents throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania, the physician-led organization is at the forefront of the country's rapidly emerging electronic health records movement.
