Metro Health Gets Virtualization

Metro Health Village, a healthcare community that is part of Wyoming, Mich.-based Metro Health , has implemented virtualization software from San Jose, Calif.-based Wyse Technology According to the company, 1,250 Wyse V90 Windows XP Embedded thin client workstations were installed throughout the hospital to enable users to quickly access their screens by entering login information. The staff at Metro Health Village is utilizing Wyse Device Manager for asset management, configuration management, diagnostics, and firmware updates for thin clients and supported smart devices, it says. Located near Grand Rapids, Mich., Metro Health Village is a 170-acre, state-of-the-art campus that includes a hospital, support services, shopping and fitness centers, and restaurants. Metro Health system offers a range of services, including inpatient and outpatient services, emergency, surgery, intensive care, rehabilitation, wellness and community education, as well as the Metro Health Hospital Foundation.

GE Launches $250M Healthymagination Fund

Fairfield, Conn.-based GE is establishing an equity fund to invest in companies that have innovative diagnostic, IT, and life sciences technologies aligned with the strategic objectives of its $6 billion Healthymagination initiative, it says. According to the company, the fund will also support healthcare companies developing innovative business models and services, and will draw on capabilities from across GE Healthcare, GE Capital and GE Global Research. Healthymagination is a global commitment to delivery better care to patients at a lower cost, says GE.
