An email from the PR folks informed us that The Little Blue Book, a physician's contact resource, has released an updated version of their smartphone app.

it's available for your iPhone and Blackberry (Android coming soon) as a "Freemium" app. That is, the application is free to download and provides access to some deep information including a complete list of local family and general practitioners, internal med, pediatric and OB/GYN docs, it also includes pharmacy, hospital and health plan data. The paid version ($10 per month) includes specialists and data from up to four regions (Little Blue Book print is available in 147 regions). The average doctor already refers to the Little Blue Book 2 or 3 times a day and 75% of doctors already carry some sort of smartphone. So making the information available through an application makes a lot of sense, but also has a number of advantages. Not only is it always with you, but it's also updated more regularly and allows doctors to call pharmacies and hospitals right from the application. You can also create a "Favorites" list so you can always have access to the people you need the most.

We haven't looked through it in a detailed fashion to see how thorough their listings are, but if you already use the paper version it might be worth downloading.
