Pediatricians fight anti-vaccine bill

More than two dozen Florida pediatricians have signed a statement opposing a Senate bill that would ban the use of certain vaccines and allow parents to set their own schedule for vaccinations. The doctors say the bill threatens federal funding for vaccines for children in Medicaid and is "junk science."

Hospital admissions are down. At doctors' and dentists' offices, patient traffic is off 20 to 30 percent from last year as Floridians hit by the economy forego health care. Many ask for discounts and, increasingly, the answer is yes.

FL VA review: 1 HIV, 7 hepatitis

A review of thousands of VA patients who underwent colonoscopy at the VA hospital in in South Florida has found one with HIV and seven with hepatitis, the government has reported. It is not known whether the illnesses were the result of contaminated equipment or contracted in other ways.

Geriatrics: Poorest paid, most needed?
