Virginia Hospital Rolling Out Clinical Suite

Rockingham Memorial Hospital , a community hospital located in Harrisonburg, Va., is deploying a suite from Horsham, Pa.-based NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc. that will include a CHS (Community Health Solution), EHR, EPM (Enterprise Practice Management) and ICS (Image Control System).   According to the company, the suite will be implemented across the entire Rockingham Memorial ambulatory enterprise. NextGen EPM will be rolled out this month, with NextGen CHS and EHR scheduled for early 2010.   Rockingham Memorial is a 270-bed independent community hospital serving a seven-county region of Virginia. In June of 2010, Rockingham will open a new, 600,000-square-foot facility on a 254-acre site just east of Harrisonburg, in Rockingham County.  

MRO Corp. Acquires REI

King of Prussia, Pa.-based MRO Corp has acquired the assets of Record Enterprises Inc. (Midlothian, Va.), a provider of release-of-information solutions, effective Sept. 1, 2009. Don Hardwick, founder of REI, will join MRO as director of compliance and field operations. MRO expects that through the acquisition, it will expand its market presence in Virginia and Tennessee, states where Record Enterprises currently services healthcare providers, according to company. The integration of the two companies will take place over a 90-day period. Existing REI customers will experience no disruptions to access or customer service, says the companies.  

UC Irvine MC Inks Consulting Deal for Implementation

UC Irvine Healthcare (Calif.) has partnered with Orchestrate Healthcare (Carbondale, Colo.) to provide technical and managerial guidance in their implementation of the Eclipsys (Atlanta) Sunrise Clinical Manager and eLink interface Engine, says the company.   Included in this technical and managerial guidance effort is the mentoring of UCI IT staff to expand their current knowledge of the eLink Integration System, it says. UC Irvine Healthcare is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine. It includes UC Irvine Medical Center and its offsite patient care locations, University Physicians & Surgeons faculty practice organization, and School of Medicine clinical departments. UC Irvine Medical Center is Orange County’s only Level I trauma center.

Rochester RHIO Links Six Radiology Centers

Physicians are now able to see radiology images from six radiology centers in the Greater Rochester (N.Y.) area through Rochester RHIO , the community’s regional health information organization, says the organization. Borg & Ide Imaging, Clifton Springs Hospital, Rochester General Health System, Rochester Diagnostic Imaging, Rochester Radiology Associates, and Thompson Health join Lakeside Memorial Hospital in providing radiology images to the RHIO. Rochester RHIO allows authorized users to see patient information, including radiology images, at any time from any computer with a secure internet connection. Altogether, more than 20 healthcare organizations in the Greater Rochester area provide patient information to Rochester RHIO, including lab test results, radiology reports and images, insurance eligibility, hospital transcribed reports and medication history. Rochester RHIO, the regional health information organization, is a secure electronic health information exchange available to authorized medical providers in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates counties.
